The power of touch & the power of our minds

And, what if, at the end of this all – when we come out the other side – we’ve strengthened ourselves; we’ve strengthened our connections, we’ve strengthened our communities. We’ve discovered how resilient we are and how we can support the people around us.

I feel for everyone who is struggling with uncertainty, worries and anxiety. As humans we don’t cope well with the unknown and fear is a natural response. My words to you, are to challenge your response to the unknown. Our power is how we respond. We have the power to shift our mindset and to choose to be aware but not alarmed.

As you will know by now, both myself and my son – Rossi – are vulnerable. We both have congenital heart defects. I want to take a moment to fill you in about what this means for Emma-Kate Massage & Wellbeing.

  • Right now, both my studios are open for massage. Emma-Kate Massage & Mindfulness has always been a safe space with a strong focus on hygiene, health and safety. I am following official information and guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
  • For the health and safety of us all, please let me know if you are feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who is unwell. I trust that people already in self-isolation will be sensible and cancel appointments.
  • I understand that the situation is fast-evolving. For this reason, I have removed the cancellation policy until further notice.

Mindfulness – Let Be, Let In and Let Go

The power of our mindset. What we choose to let be, let in and let go of. How we respond to what’s happening around us.  I’ve been thinking about how I can adapt Emma-Kate Mindfulness to help you during times of uncertainty.

The strength of Mindfulness is that we don’t have to be sitting alongside each other to practice. Over the coming weeks I will be transitioning bespoke Mindfulness sessions to virtual sessions. You in your safe space and me in mine.

I am offering complimentary 30-minute Mindfulness Zoom calls. Final thoughts...

Until next time, I’d like to leave you with this thought – When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening. That’s where you power is.

For me, I find myself at the beach and among nature often. It is a place where I can self-calm and remind myself to breathe in each moment as it comes, and to breathe out the stresses I can’t control.

I surround myself safely, and virtually, with the people I love. Connection is alive and beautiful.
